The recent state election in Bihar for MLA seats could have opened a floodgate of challenges for India, particularly if the NDA had lost. But thanks to the wisdom of Bihari voters, not only was their state preserved, but the entire nation was also saved from potential political turmoil. In this post, I will explain how the outcome of this election played a pivotal role in safeguarding India’s future.
The Stakes Were High: A Fragile Government
As we know, the BJP does not have a majority in the Lok Sabha and must rely on its NDA (National Democratic Alliance) partners to stay in power. External forces that seek to undermine India’s progress have been actively working to destabilize the Modi government. Their ultimate goal has been to remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which would allow them to disrupt India’s economic growth. Today, India is the world’s third-largest economy in terms of GDP (PPP), and if the current pace continues, it is expected to become the second-largest economy within the next 10-15 years.
In this context, there were multiple reports suggesting that leaders like Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu were being courted by these external forces to withdraw their support from the NDA. Had they agreed to switch allegiance, it would have triggered a political crisis, destabilizing both the state and the nation. However, both leaders decided to stand by Prime Minister Modi and continue supporting the government without any theatrics or demands for personal gain.
Had the NDA lost the Bihar election, it might have caused Nitish Kumar to reconsider his stance. In such a scenario, he could have shifted his support to the opposition, which has been relentlessly working to oust PM Modi from office. With only 85 seats in the state election, Nitish Kumar is not in a strong enough position to break away from the NDA unless other alliance members followed suit. Fortunately, leaders like Chirag Paswan and others did not seem inclined to desert the NDA. So, Nitish Kumar is left with little choice but to maintain his allegiance to the NDA in order to secure his position as Chief Minister of Bihar.
This electoral outcome, therefore, brought a degree of stability to the NDA government at the national level, even though Indian politics is notoriously unpredictable.
A Setback for Prashant Kishore
Another key moment in this election was the rejection of Prashant Kishore’s political agenda. There have been reports suggesting that, like Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Kishore may be working under the influence of external forces—possibly to destabilize the NDA’s chances by splitting the vote in Bihar. If Kishore had succeeded in his mission, it could have paved the way for Nitish Kumar to switch sides and align with the opposition, which would have severely weakened PM Modi’s government. However, Bihari voters saw through this potential threat and decisively rejected Kishore’s political machinations, denying him a single seat in the election. This was a major victory for the people of Bihar, as it thwarted the attempts of foreign powers to manipulate Indian politics.
The Bigger Picture: Defending India’s Capitalist Path
Since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, India has slowly but steadily moved towards a more capitalist economy—an approach that has fueled rapid growth. However, the rise of leaders like Arvind Kejriwal introduced a wave of socialism into Indian politics. This shift put the BJP in a difficult position, as it now finds itself balancing between the demands of socialism to win elections and its core capitalist vision for India’s future.
This shift in policy has come at a significant cost to the Indian government, with billions of rupees being spent each year to fund populist schemes. These funds, if used wisely, could have been invested in long-term development projects that would benefit the country’s infrastructure, education, and healthcare. By rejecting another version of this socialist model—symbolized by Prashant Kishore—Bihari voters have helped prevent India from veering further away from its path of economic growth and development.
A Victory for Nationalism
In the end, Bihari voters performed a crucial service for the nation. By supporting the NDA and rejecting attempts to destabilize the government, they have helped ensure that India remains on a path of progress and prosperity. Every nationalist Indian should be grateful to the voters of Bihar for their political acumen, as their decision not only saved the state but also helped safeguard the future of the nation.
