In Hindu stories, we often hear about gods like Brahma and Shiva giving special powers, or “boons,” to demons. These demons then use those powers to cause harm and trouble for everyone. This raises an important question: Why should we worship gods who help the bad guys, even when they know it will lead to suffering?
Brahma and Shiva are important gods in Hinduism, but they sometimes give powerful gifts to demons just because the demons pray really hard or perform difficult penances. But is it right to reward someone who is clearly going to use that power to hurt others? These boons often lead to chaos, destruction, and suffering for innocent people. It is as if these gods are playing a cosmic game, using humanity as pawns. When Shiva gave Ravana, the demon king, incredible strength, it led to the kidnapping of Sita and a lot of suffering. Similarly, Brahma made the demon Hiranyakashipu almost immortal, which led to more terror and pain. These gods knew what might happen, but they still gave the demons what they wanted. This doesn’t seem fair or right.
When a god gives power to someone who is known for doing bad things, it’s like they’re supporting evil. Saying it’s part of a “cosmic balance” doesn’t make it okay when innocent people get hurt. If a person helped a criminal gain more power, we would blame them too. So, why should we worship gods who do the same?
Unlike Brahma and Shiva, Vishnu always steps in to protect the good and defeat the bad. He consistently steps up to protect humanity from these demon-empowered threats. He takes on different forms, like Rama and Krishna, to fight these demons and restore peace. He actively works to make sure that justice prevails, which is why Vishnu deserves our respect and worship. If we want to worship someone who stands up for what’s right and protects people, Vishnu is the clear choice.
Some people say that giving power to demons is necessary for the balance of the universe. But this seems like a convenient excuse for poor decision-making. True balance should not come at the cost of human suffering. If keeping balance means letting bad things happen to good people, then maybe this balance isn’t so great after all. A fair universe shouldn’t need to empower evil. It should protect good without causing unnecessary suffering.
While respecting others’ right to their beliefs, I firmly believe that gods who aid demons do not deserve our worship. Their actions have repeatedly put humanity at risk, and it’s only through the intervention of more benevolent gods like Vishnu that balance is restored. As thinking individuals, we should direct our devotion towards those who truly protect and care for humanity. By doing this, we support the forces of good and stand against evil.
